DAM is Dead and MAM Killed It - Here's How

Media Asset Management (MAM) and Digital Asset Management (DAM) are often used interchangeably since they both provide features for the rapid storage and discovery of digital assets. However, MAM and DAM systems are primarily set apart by their intentional design.

MAM systems were specifically designed to manage video and multimedia files while DAM systems were designed to manage pictures, audio, video, 3D, and high-quality graphic files. MAM systems have killed DAM systems within industries such as broadcast and sports which produce large volumes of video and will continue to dominate DAM systems as video becomes more vital to brands’ marketing efforts and bottom lines.
